Frankly speaking, is it highly essential to know the language for communication. In general, the most important language is English. There are several reasons for this.

Firstly, English is spoken by many people all over the world. It is used to do business, to talk about politics or to entertain other people from other countries.

Secondly, in this computer age, English is the only language that any one can understand. So it has become as an ideal language for expressing our feelings, sending information or sharing experience.

Thirdly, a lot of big companies and institutions require qualified applicant who master either active or passive English to fill in the top positions. It is hard to do some works in this global era without knowing English.

Many Scientific, political general knowledge books are also still written in English. If you do not know English, then you would be in need of a translator to do the job.

From the fact, it is obvious that everybody needs English in this global era.
